July Edition 2019
What a scorcher we've had already (although Malawi is MUCH hotter!) Things are gearing up again for us at the Starfish UK headquarters as we say 'goodbye' and 'safe travels' to our container as it heads off to Malawi and prepare for more of our fundraising events (you don't want to miss them, they're going to be great!) Here are just 3 stories we wanted to share with you this month...
Leybourne Lakes Sponsored Walk
We had a very wet but amazing time at our annual sponsored walk on the 8th June. Many turned up in spite of the rain and we want to say a very special 'THANK YOU' to you for sticking it out despite the awful weather conditions. We have so far raised an amazing £3,057 for our Glad Tidings Orphan Care project. Thank you all so much! For those who haven't sent their sponsorship money in, please can you do that as soon as possible please. The top two photos below are taken from a very wet and windy 8th June walk but also from a walk by Halling Baptist Church who walked on the 15th June. Thankfully, they had better weather than we did! See large picture below.
The Halling Baptist Church walkers - thank you for arranging a different day and raising money for The Glad Tidings Orphan Care Project.
Annual Fundraising Meal
When: Friday 22nd November 2019 Where: The London Beach Country Spa & Golf Hotel, Tenterden. Time: Doors open at 7pm for a 7:30pm Dinner. Please keep an eye out in your inboxes in August for your official invitation. We have some VERY special guests joining us all the way from Malawi this year...you will not want to miss this one!
Summer Appeal - Chalk'n'Dusters4Classrooms
Following the very successful appeals over the last two years for Desks and Blackboards for classrooms, we thought that this Summer we would seek to raise funds to provide an annual supply of chalk for each school. Running out of basic resources like chalk is a real issue. Also supplying good quality blackboard erasers will enable the boards to be properly cleaned off to avoid any ghosting of previous work. These resources will be of great value to the teachers. We will launch the appeal at the end of July and hope that we will be able to supply many schools with these resources.
