June Edition
We've had such a busy month already here at Starfish headquarters UK! We held our annual fundraising walk at Leybourne Lakes (see more below) and our container has arrived to be filled and sent off to Malawi at the end of the month. We really appreciate everyone's prayers and support. This work wouldn't continue without you all supporting us and the projects happening in Malawi, so a big THANK YOU to you all. If you want to get involved in anyway with the projects we have, please email admin@starfishmalawi.com. Here are just 3 stories we wanted to share with you this month...

Gateway Day Report
This project provides re-usable sanitary kits made by local women, to allow girls to stay in education during their period. On the 23rd April 2019, women from across our Salima Gateway groups were invited to attend a Gateway workshop. 20 members from across 5 groups attended along with members of the Starfish Malawi team and some UK volunteers who were visiting Malawi. The Health Clinic is growing!
The last few weeks has seen good progress with the construction of our new health clinic. This will provide much needed free outpatients healthcare to 13,000 people in the Ngolowindo area. The clinic is being built close to the Glad Tidings Orphan Care (GTOC) facility which is currently where the children’s clinics are held. These will be relocated to the new clinic in due course, freeing up more space in the GTOC building for our nursery education work. The new clinic will also provide adult healthcare. It will have four consulting rooms, a waiting area and reception, office and pharmacy. As we write this newsletter, the foundations and floors are in place and the main pillars are being built.

Primary school new build at Moyo - in partnership with Mission Direct
After much planning, praying and discussions, we are delighted that a team of thirteen Mission Direct volunteers will be going out to Malawi in late July to start the building of a new primary school just outside Moyo village. The foundations are being constructed by Starfish prior to their arrival so that they can commence the walls. We are so looking forward to this partnership as this school is going to mean that children from four villages will no longer have to walk a long distance to school. The team will be building one classroom this year and it is hoped, finance permitting, that each year a team will return to build a classroom which will eventually lead to a completed school.
