Students return from education mission to Uganda
Two schoolgirls have spoken of witnessing first-hand the barriers to education for disabled children in Africa.
Maisie Le Masurier, 14, and Rebecca Unwin, 15 were sent on a fact-finding mission with international development charity Sightsavers. In Uganda, the girls met children who have been denied schooling because of their disabilities.
The young ambassadors learnt about the main obstacles to inclusive education, including a lack of qualified teachers, a lack of equipment and negative attitudes towards people with disabilities.
